The Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office Field Transport Division is responsible for the safe and secure movement of inmates and arrestees from one location to another. This includes transferring inmates to and from other counties, as well as to and from federal and state correctional facilities. The Field Transport Division is also responsible for the timely movement of arrestees during special operations such as DWI checkpoints to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Arrest Processing Center. Deputies in this unit are also tasked with servicing involuntary commitment orders (judicial hospitalizations) and transporting those respondents to the designated evaluation and/or treatment site.
