All residents, regardless of custody security level, are permitted to have visits with family, friends, attorney's and other authorized officials, within the facilities, under the conditions consistent with the security of those facilities, unless those privileges are suspended for disciplinary sanctions. NOTE: AN RESIDENT HAS THE RIGHT TO REFUSE REGULAR VISITATION.

Public/Personal Visitation:

Each resident is afforded two free 25 minute on-site personal/family video visits per week, not on the same day. Visitors conduct visits via stations at the MCSO Administrative Services Building (formerly the Work Release and Restitution Center) located at 901 Elizabeth Avenue in Charlotte, North Carolina. Additional internet visits can be conducted via a webcam enabled computer, or Android device, at a cost of $10.00 for a 25 minute visit, or $4.00 for a 10 minute visit. Depending on availability, resident visits can be scheduled for any day of the week. In-person visits are available.

Visit Restrictions: Visits may be less than 25 minutes due to facility emergencies, lock downs or for disciplinary reasons. Visits conducted via the MCSO Work Release and Restitution Center are limited to two adults and one child or one adult and two children (adults = 18 and over).

Please note there is no public parking at the MCSO Administrative Services Building. Please park at the 4th Street Parking Deck (983 East 4th Street in Uptown Charlotte) located at the intersection of 4th and McDowell Streets.

Clergy Video Visitation:

Each resident receives one free 25 minute clergy video and one in-person visit a week. Clergy who are interested in being approved for visitation must call the MCSO Volunteer Coordinator at 980-314-5172 during normal business hours, Monday-Friday (clergy calls only please). Attorney/Professional Visitation:

Attorney/Professional visitation is held in person at either Jail Central or Jail North during the following hours:

8:00am-11:30am, 1:00pm-4:30pm, 5:30pm-6:30pm, 8:00pm-10:00pm

Attorney/Professional Contact Visit:

Attorney/Professional Contact Visits are held Monday-Friday at Detention Center Central and Detention Center North and can be scheduled between 8:00am-11:00am and 1:00pm-4:00pm. Contact visits must be scheduled no less than 24 hours in advance.

To schedule a contact visit, the requesting party must draft a letter on their agency letterhead requesting to visit the resident with the PID, requested visit date and time. The letter must include the names and titles of all the attendees and a list of electronic devices and items. The letter should be faxed to 704-432-1836.

The request should be made at least 24hr in advance. There is no contact visit after 4:30PM Monday through Friday, on weekends or County observed holidays.

Unless requested by an attorney/professional via the Release, Indemnity and Hold Harmless Agreement, inmates will be presented for a contact visit in full restraints. This document should be submitted to MCSO via fax for each visit. Click here to access the Indemnity Agreement Form.
