Communications

The Sheriff’s Office Communications Division is considered the central nervous system of all field radio traffic and citizen calls. The ten telecommunicators receive specializing training for the state Division of Criminal Information and National Crime Information Computer systems, and are certified through North Carolina Sheriff’s Standards.
The Communications Division is the first point of contact for many people seeking information or assistance from the Sheriff’s Office. Telecommunicators are responsible for coordinating all radio transmissions within the Sheriff’s Office, providing radio equipment maintenance and disseminating sensitive information through the appropriate channels, as well as answering the telephones, utilizing the CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch), and completing checks as requested through the DCI (Division of Criminal Information) terminal.
The Sheriff’s Communications Division handles approximately 66,000 radio transmissions each month. Our employees make it a priority to keep the citizens of Mecklenburg County and the MCSO staff safe at all times.
The Communications Division is supervised by Sgt. Bozardt (980) 314-5003
