Zachariah Taylor Smith

Zachariah Taylor Smith, the 33rd Sheriff was elected in November 1888 and won four more elections in 1890, 1892, 1894, 1896. Prior to becoming Sheriff, he enlisted in the Confederate Army at the outbreak of the Civil War, in his case in the Junior Reserves because he was not yet 14 years old.
